A Look at Foreign Demand for Spanish Property in Early 2019

The Association of Spanish Land Registrars have just published their Spanish property market report for the last quarter of 2018. The overall market was up 7% in Q4 to 120,199 home sales inscribed in the Spanish Land Registry. The number of Spanish homes bought by foreign buyers in Q4 2018 was 15,217, almost unchanged compared to the fourth quarter of 2017. Broken down by nationality the British were still number one with 2,524 recorded purchases and 17% foreign market share in Q4 2018. Andalusia to Abolish Inheritance Tax in 2019

Inheritance tax in Andalusia will be suppressed by 99% on all estates over €1 million. The landmark tax reform is the result of a long-winded campaign led by political activists, such as the group ‘Stop Sucesiones’ and other right-wing political groups. Spanish Property Market Updates – Looking back at 2018

The number of Spanish home sales inscribed in the National Land Registry rose by 11% in 2018 compared to the previous year – There were 465,083 Spanish home sales inscribed in the Land Register in 2018, and 515,051 if you include subsidized homes. Despite lower growth in 2018, sales of both new and previously occupied homes were positive in December, with growth in new home sales having been positive almost every month for the last two years.
